Elon Musk has responded to the rumors that Ayo Edebiri will allegedly be replacing Johnny Depp as the new lead for Disney's upcoming installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

Ever since Johnny Depp was removed from his position portraying Jack Sparrow in the iconic franchise, people have been wondering who was going to step into his boots, with multiple other big names being brought into the conversation.

One front-runner was none other than Barbie actress Margot Robbie, who was initially reported to be leading a female-orientated storyline in Disney's upcoming project tentatively titled 'Pirates 6.'

Back in 2020, the Hollywood Reporter published an exclusive in which they stated that Robbie was working alongside Christina Hodson to bring about a new era to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, though that project seemed to lose steam after a few months.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, the 33-year-old stated that they "had an idea and we were developing it for a while," but Disney allegedly "don't want to do it."

The Wolf Of Wall Street star added that it was "a different kind of story, which we thought would’ve been really cool" but it allegedly didn't take off.

However, that doesn't mean it's been disregarded altogether, according to Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer who told The Sun that the project was "alive for me [and] alive for Disney."

"I’m sure she was disappointed it didn’t go first, or maybe not because she’s very busy, so it might be a blessing to push this a bit. We believe we’ll get it made. It’s a very strong story," he added.

While we didn't hear much more from either party, it has recently been reported that Ayo Edebiri might be joining the female lineup as a replacement Sparrow, playing a character named Anne, who is said to be based on real-life pirate Anne Bonny.

Exciting, right?

Well, not for some.

Upon hearing the news, Elon Musk took to X to express his opinion on the matter - though no one really asked.

Replying to a tweet of the news, he responded: "Disney sucks."

It comes as Depp was removed as Sparrow due to allegations of physical as well as emotional abuse by his ex-wife Amber Heard.

Reflecting on his time battling his ex-wife in a defamation case in court, he said that Disney made him feel like he was "guilty until proven innocent."

"Captain Jack Sparrow was a character that I had built from the ground up and was something that I put a lot of - you put a lot of yourself into characters," Depp said.

He continued: "And also having worked on those films with those people, and having put a lot of my own rewriting, dialogue, scenes, and jokes and whatever they are," he told the jury at the time. "I didn’t quite understand how, after that long relationship, and quite a successful relationship, certainly for Disney, that suddenly I was guilty until proven innocent."

While the rumors about Edebiri have not yet been confirmed, we've got our fingers crossed that they will be soon!
