Netflix viewers have shared their stunned reactions to a thriller series' mind-blowing ending.

The streaming service released the six-part psychological thriller titled, Behind Her Eyes, in 2021 and it follows a single mom named Louise (played by Simona Brown) who ends up having an affair with her handsome boss, David (Tom Bateman).

In a random twist of fate, the woman forms an unlikely friendship with David's wife Adele (portrayed by Eve Hewson), who has struggled with mental illness.

The story takes a complete turn when Adele teaches Louise, who suffers from night terrors, how to astral project - which is when you send your consciousness somewhere else.

The plot of the chilling drama - which is an adaptation of the book by Sarah Pinborough - develops as Louise finds herself embroiled in the married couple's relationship. It continues to circle around the three main characters, teasing something insidious underneath.

Safe to say, this mind-blowing ending shocked many viewers who took to their social media to share their reactions.

One user reacted: "What the hell was that ending?? Behind Her Eyes is the most twisted mind-bending ending seen on a #Netflix show! Damn!" while another said: "I was NOT prepared for 'Behind Her Eyes' ending.. yooo??"

A third chimed in: "I just finished watching 'Behind Her Eyes' and I feel defeated, I had my own ending and nothing prepared me for that ending. My body is shaking and I can’t stop shouting 'Haa'"

A fourth remarked: "I feel unsettled every time I think of the Behind Her Eyes ending," while one more added: "Didn't see that Behind Her Eyes ending coming at all.. w** was that? I feel like my mind is messed up."

The mini-series, directed by Erik Richter Strand, did fairly well on IMDB and has a rating of 7.2/10 after 7,000 reviews. Meanwhile, it has a score of 63% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 58 percent audience score.

The New Yorker shared a review for the hit show, writing: "It can be tricky to pull off a double twist. 'Behind Her Eyes,' Netflix’s new nail-biter of a miniseries, is thematically chaotic, and its characters are messy, but its ending has an effect like breaking the seal of a ketchup bottle—a startling, satisfying pop."

Roxana Hadadi also spoke about the ending in their review for Roger Ebert, penning: "'Behind Her Eyes' is a fantastically entertaining magic trick of a TV show, so confident in its incongruous genre mashup that you won’t be able to look away. You might love the exceptionally audacious ending or you might hate it, but you’ll certainly talk about it either way."
