People have been left shocked after finding out who Chris Evans has just gotten married to, and let's just say, it seems as though a lot of folks were clueless about his new wife.
Hollywood's most sought-after bachelor is well and truly off the market following reports that the 42-year-old actor has officially tied the knot with his 26-year-old partner, Alba Baptista.
According to a report by PEOPLE, the beloved star, who is best known for his portrayal of the iconic Marvel superhero Captain America, and the Portuguese actress who starred in Netflix's Warrior Nun, exchanged vows during an intimate ceremony over the weekend.
The outlet reported that the two actors said "I do" in Massachusetts at their Boston home, while Page Six also claimed the ceremony was "locked down tight," as guests were made to sign non-disclosure agreements before attending the event.
And with a wedding featuring such big stars, you would also expect a pretty impressive guest list to match, right?
Well, the special occasion did not disappoint as other famous faces such as Robert Downey Jr. and his wife, Susan Downey, Chris Hemsworth and his wife, Elsa Pataky, and Jeremy Renner, plus John Krasinski and Emily Blunt came to support their friends as they made their life-long commitment to each other.
Despite this being a happy time, a bunch of fans who were hopeful that they would get a shot with the Knives Out actor took to express their shock at the news - which seemingly came out of nowhere for them.
"[What do you mean] CHRIS EVANS IS MARRIED?" asked one user alongside a clip of Elena Gilbert from The Vampire Diaries crying on the floor, while another added: "You're now telling me Chris Evans is...MARRIED?!"
Others seemed to be confused as to who he was marrying with this user tweeting: "WHAT THE HELL?!? CHRIS EVANS IS MARRIED? I HAD NO IDEA HE'S DATING SOMEONE. OMG."
Another also shared the same sentiment, writing: "I didn't even know Chris Evans was seriously dating someone. I thought he was like "with" Selena Gomez three months ago? And now he's married?? Idk she's super pretty (in that way Emilia Clarke is) and they seem happy!"
A third also added: "Chris Evans got married ??? He was DATING ???"
For those of us that have religiously been keeping up with the 42-year-old's love life - which is half of the world - you'd probably be aware that the actor has been in a relationship with Baptista since around November 2022, when the two were spotted getting cozy around New York City.
At the time, a source told PEOPLE magazine that the actors were "in love and Chris has never been happier," adding: "His family and friends all adore her."
The report also stated that the secret love affair has been going on for "over a year and it's serious."
However, things were officially confirmed from the pair themselves in January when the star posted a selection of adorable clips of the pair pranking each other with jump scares.
Then over time out spilled a bunch of adorable snapshots of the couple, which put that final nail in the hopes of fans.
It came after Evans had opened up about wanting to settle down during his interview with PEOPLE after being crowned the Sexiest Man Alive.
"That’s absolutely something I want - wife, kids, building a family," he told the outlet at the time. "When you read about most of the best artists, whether it’s actors, painters, writers, most of them [admit] it wasn’t the work they made [that they are most proud of], it was about the relationships, the families they created, the love they found, the love they shared."
He continued: "So it’s also something through my long 41 years that also rings true. Those things are the most important. I love the idea of tradition and ceremony, I had a lot of that in my life so the idea of creating that, I can’t think of anything better."
