Shrek is an all-time classic, but it turns out that most of us have been overlooking one shocking detail in a scene featuring Lord Farquaad.

Anyone who has seen the beloved movie knows that Shrek is love, Shrek is life - and although opinions differ on which installment was the best, the love for the giant green ogre remains the same.

It's been 13 years since the last Shrek movie, but that hasn't stopped people from flocking back to the originals, as they're pretty timeless.

But once you start looking at the movies a little closer, it seems that some of the jokes that we didn't understand as kids hit a little differently now.

One scene featuring the antagonist in the first movie, Lord Farquaad, has raised eyebrows because it's pretty adult-themed!

The scene shows Farquaad lying in bed asking the magic mirror to show him the princess he selected to marry - Fiona.

It all seems pretty innocent, right? That is until the covers raise slightly and Farquaad has an embarrassed look across his face... you see where this is going right?

For anyone who is still unsure, what happened is a common occurrence when men get a little bit excited.

It's safe to say the viewers over on TikTok have been left completely shocked by what they've seen and it's tarnished a few fond childhood memories.

One user commented: "Wait whaaat? This destroyed my childhood," while a second added: "I DIDNT REALIZE IT RAISES OH MY GOD NOOOOO."

A third person penned: "Ok but the mirrors face he looks disgusted how many times did he have to show him her face."

Others agreed that their childhood is ruined, and some even expressed embarrassment at the fact that they'd watched the flick with their parents.

If that hasn't put you off Shrek forever, back in April Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri, who is also a creative partner to DreamWorks Animation, appeared to announce a new Shrek movie.

Speaking to Variety, he acknowledged the announcement while promoting the new Mario movie. "It’s not that dissimilar to the process that we went through with Mario," he said. "Where you look at what the core elements are that audiences have loved, and you do your very best to honor those core elements.

"And then you’re hard at work to build story elements and new characters that take you to brand new places. The original cast is a huge part of that. We anticipate the cast coming back. Talks are starting now, and every indication that we’ve gotten is there’s tremendous enthusiasm on behalf of the actors to return."

You can never have too much Shrek!
