A crew member has died on set of the new Marvel TV series Wonder Man after falling from a high walkway, according to reports.

The incident occurred at the Radford Studio Center in Los Angeles on Tuesday, though filming was not taking place at the time.

The man was identified as 41-year-old Juan Osorio, who is believed to have been a lighting technician working on the series. He is believed to have fallen from a high 'catwalk' and died at the scene.

An investigation into the tragic death has since been launched by OSHA (the Occupational Safety and Health Administration).

A spokesperson for Marvel confirmed that a man had died on the set, adding in a statement: "Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends, and our support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this accident."

President Matthew D. Loeb added, via Deadline: "Everyone in the IA family is shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic loss. We are working to support our member’s family, and his fellow members and colleagues

"Safety on set is our highest priority and we will assist Cal/OSHA in their investigation in any way that we can. If you feel unsafe on set for any reason, members can call the IATSE Safety Hotline at 844-422-9273 or use our safety info app."

Deaths on set are, thankfully, rare but recent tragedies have also included the death of Halyna Hutchins, who died afte being fatally wounded when a gun Alec Baldwin was holding misfired on the set of Rust in 2021.

The cinematographer died from her injuries, while director Joel Souza was also injured when the prop gun the actor was holding fired a live round.

Baldwin was charged with involuntary manslaughter and has pleaded not guilty.

Filming of Wonder Man, which stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley, had been due to restart in March after it faced lengthy delays due to the recent actors and writers strikes in Hollywood.

The Disney+ series follows the adventures of Simon Williams (Abdul-Mateen) who joins the world of superheroes after being given supernatural powers.

In the comic books, Williams is a scion of a wealthy industrialist, whose company loses out to Tony Stark's Stark Industries. He then goes to work for the villain Baron Zemo, who bestows him with powers including superhuman strength.

While he starts out as a villain, Williams eventually teams up with his old adversaries, the Avengers, after becoming a superhero instead.

Our thoughts are with Osorio's loved ones and colleagues at this heartbreaking time.
