A bridesmaid has shared the shocking moment a groom called off his wedding just minutes before the ceremony after finding his bride in an intimate moment with his uncle.
Weddings can bring out the worst in people - from 'bridezillas' getting overheated about every small detail of the day, to family members getting too drunk and embarrassing themselves on the dancefloor, there are many ways the big day can go spectacularly wrong.
However, one groom ended up having what appears to be a very lucky escape after discovering that his wife-to-be had been sleeping with his uncle, including minutes before they were due to walk down the aisle.
One of their bridesmaids shared the tea on how the wedding ended up turning into disaster - and it's a doozy.
The unnamed bridesmaid took to Reddit's Wedding Shaming forum where she explained that she was a college friend of the 29-year-old bride who she named 'Dana', who was marrying her 32-year-old fiancé Josh.
The bridal party had been put through a whole lot before the wedding even began, as she revealed that the bridesmaids were initially asked to fork out $2,000 each for their dresses, which was unaffordable for many of them.
The bride had also banned any single female friends of the groom from being invited unless they were Josh's blood relatives, and had even tried to force her bridesmaids to cancel holiday plans with their families to go to her destination bachelorette party, which she later ended up changing as so many of them were - understandably - not able to go.
However, all of these issues are small-fry in comparison to how the actual wedding day went down, as the bridesmaid wrote: "The day started horrible. Dana was having a meltdown because apparently the flower girl had to cancel because she has -chickenpox-.
"She was threatening to sue the mother unless she brought this sick three-year-old to the wedding. Josh apparently was able to calm her down from this starter outburst and we began preparations."
The woman revealed that the bride had "constant outbursts" throughout the day, making the wedding staff and some of the bridesmaids cry with her unreasonable behavior, adding: "The MoH [maid of honor] deserves a medal for the amount of diplomacy and bulls**t control she had to do.
"I for the most part took the easy route and decided to work outside the bridal suite like checking flowers, making sure food was okay. Basically any excuse NOT to be around bride.
"Eventually I had my make up and hair done, then the bride asked for a little bit of time alone to 'decompress' from the stress. We didn't even fight it, you could not see a group of women run faster away."
By this point it was just 30 minutes before the ceremony was due to start, so the bridesmaids felt comfortable leaving the bride alone to chill out before she was due to walk down the aisle.
However, Dana's choice of 'stress relief' soon ended up coming to light after a panicked maid of honor ran over to the bridesmaids to tell them the wedding was off five minutes before the couple were due to walk down the aisle.
She explained: "It had to be about five minutes before the start of the wedding when MoH came over to tell me the wedding was canceled. I asked her what happened.
"MoH: 'Dana was having a "quickie" with Josh's uncle in the room. Josh caught them.'
"I just stared at the MoH with my mouth pretty much about to reach the floor. She told me to run and that she was trying to get as many people out before things exploded. So I quickly got my purse, gathered the two bridesmaid that were carpooling with me, and we left like the devil was after us. I checked with the other bridesmaid and all had escaped."
Of course, she later called the maid of honor - who just happened to be Josh's sister - to get the tea on what exactly had gone down, and found out that Josh had rightfully called off the wedding, "called her a few names, told off his uncle, and has since left with his mates to I hope have the biggest single man party ever".
The bridesmaid admitted she felt "so bad for him" as he is an "absolute gem of a man", but added that he'd told Dana and her family that they'd be paying for the costs of the wedding, and that Dana's father had told her "in front of everyone" that she would be paying it on her own.
As if getting caught cheating on your husband-to-be with his own family member on your wedding day wasn't embarrassing enough, the bridesmaid then revealed that the shameless bride had tried to recoup the costs of the wedding from her bridesmaids.
She added: "I thought that was the end of it. I made the choice to separate myself from this mess. Until I got a call from Dana, not even hour ago, demanding $5,000 to help pay her cancellation fees. According to Dana, it was our duty as the bridal party to pay her cancellation fees."
Unsurprisingly, she said a huge "no" to that demand - as did most of the other bridesmaids - and told Dana to "lose [her] number" as she vowed to "never speak" to her again after the hell they'd all been put through for the wedding.
There's no word on whether the bride and the uncle's affair is still going on, but we can assume it'd be pretty awkward for them to make a go of dating one another after this debacle...
