A bride-to-be has divided social media users after sharing a sweet video of her proposal.

In a romantic setting amongst the lush tropics of San Diego, California, the marriage proposal video has stirred quite the conversation, accumulating over 1.9 million views on TikTok. The bride-to-be, Courtney Ward, is facing a wave of both criticism and amusement for her seemingly impatient reaction to her partner Stephen's heartfelt proposal.

The viral eight-second clip shows the moment Courtney (@court_the_croissant) swiftly grabbed her engagement ring before her fiancé could even complete his marriage proposal - leaving viewers questioning her eagerness.

The overlay text on the explosive TikTok video reads: "No one, absolutely no one", "Me: takes the engagement ring and puts it on while he’s still talking."

The proposal, featuring white block letters spelling out "Will you marry me?" was planned by Stephen amid the scenic landscapes of San Diego. However, 29-year-old Courtney couldn’t contain her excitement and she decided to accept the ring mid-speech, acknowledging her bizarre reaction in the posted clip with a background filled with laughter and the caption: "In my defense, it was so beautiful I had to put it on right then and there!"

At least Stephen knew it was a firm "yes!"

Check out the video below:

Nevertheless, Courtney’s response has left people divided in the comments section.

One critic aimed their response at Stephen, simply writing: "Run sir", with a second agreeing, writing: "Yea she’s super entitled, run brother run!"

"Couldn’t even put her phone away for the proposal," a third unimpressed viewer wrote, while a fourth added: "That’s like counting the money without reading the card."

However, many other TikTok users voiced their support for Courtney - with some people sharing some much-needed rationale behind her excited response. One person commented: "In our defense our brain is FRIED once a man gets down on one knee [...] all brain cells leave the building."

Another supporter wrote: "I think this is funny. I bet you get tunnel vision. People might hate but don't listen."

Others also revealed that they acted a similar way during their proposal, with another commenting: "My husband didn’t even get the words out lol I just stuck my hand out to him."

In response to some of the negative comments, Courtney clarified her position, admitting that she had "tunnel vision" and that "all the brain cells jumped out the window".

"Some people are acting like I’m a horrible person for doing it […] it was an immediate reaction," she added.

Fortunately, many social media users could definitely see the funny side, as they shared tongue-in-cheek jokes like, "The way you just went 'I’ll take that thank you'," and "If 'about damn time' were a person."

Undaunted by the varied reactions, Courtney later shared a close-up of the sparkling square-cut diamond that induced her swift response. This follow-up helped some understand her reaction better, with one person mentioning: "Okay, see why you blanked out. That’s Icey!"

Courtney and Stephen are reportedly focusing on their upcoming dream wedding scheduled for 2024, and we encourage them to ignore the haters and enjoy the big day!

But let's hope Stephen's vows don't go down as poorly as this groom's speech.
