While most couples celebrate Christmas in the warmth of their homes surrounded by festive joy, one woman in Thailand was left walking for miles after her husband accidentally left her stranded.

Yes, in an unusual tale of festive forgetfulness, a husband inadvertently left his wife stranded all alone on the side of the road, leading her on an unforeseen 12.5-mile nocturnal trek in the middle of the night.

Per the Daily Mail, 55-year-old Boontom Chaimoon is probably still attempting to make amends with his wife, 49-year-old Amnuay Chaimoon, after the couple became separated during a drive to the Maha Sarakham province at Christmas in 2022.

As reported by the Thai news site Matichon, the couple were driving to their destination when things took an unexpected turn around 3:00 AM. Boontom pulled over his Isuzu pickup truck in order to take a pee.

Although local outlet Daily News reported that Amnuay questioned why her husband didn't just stop at the gas station they had not long passed, she soon realized that she also had to answer nature's call and ventured into the bushes for some privacy.

However, when she returned, both the vehicle and her husband were gone.

With no phone on hand, having left it in the car, and stranded in the early hours, Amnuay resolutely began her 12.5-mile walk to Kabin Buri district. Two hours later, she reached her destination. But reaching out to her oblivious husband presented a new challenge - as she didn’t have his number.

Through the local police, she tried to call her own phone 20 times in an attempt to get her husband's attention, but the calls went unanswered.

As Amnuay tried to contact other relatives through the authorities, Boontom - completely unaware - had continued his journey and reached the Korat province, a whopping 99 miles away! It wasn't until 08:00 AM, as per Thailand Posts English, that he got the astonishing news of his wife's unintended adventure.

Ridden with guilt, Boontom immediately retraced his path and was soon reunited with his wife - where he explained that he mistakenly assumed Amnuay was asleep in the car's back seat, hence not realizing her absence.

In what can only be described as a testament to understanding and long-standing love, Amnuay forgave him, and the couple - who have been happily married for 27 years and share a 26-year-old son - chose not to squabble over the mishap.

I guess you can say that this story truly is a testament to Amnuay’s forgiving nature, the strength of their marriage, and perhaps a reminder to always double-check your backseat during road trips!
