A paramedic has issued a serious warning to people who might be thinking of getting frisky over the holidays - leave the Christmas decorations out of it.

Christmas is a magical time of year, when many people choose to decorate their homes for the holidays with an assortment of themed items.

From the classic Christmas tree itself to the many ornaments that seem to appear on shop shelves earlier and earlier each year, there's no shortage of creative ways you can make your home emulate Santa's grotto.

And while those little knick-knacks might look wonderful, a paramedic has advised that they should remain on the mantelpiece instead of... other places you might be thinking of putting them.

Cole Elliot, who works as a paramedic, shared a video of him walking around a shop's Christmas aisle as he pointed out several things that could cause some embarrassing trips to the emergency department.

He began: "As the Christmas season is now upon us and the decorations are n0w out in stores, I thought I'd do a video as a paramedic telling you where not to put things where they don't belong this Christmas."

Of course, many people assumed he meant something along the lines of 'don't put flammable things near your candles' or something of the like, but no... that wasn't what he meant at all.

Holding up a questionably shaped ceramic Christmas tree trinket, he told his followers: "Don't put this where it doesn't belong."

We won't spell out exactly where he meant as we're sure everyone can work that one out, but it would potentially involve a very embarrassing trip to the hospital and possibly some surgery to remove.

Next up was a large, spiky, tree-shaped candle, as well as a trio of smaller, more streamlined ones.

He then held up another wooden tree with a silver top, adding: "It may be shiny but don't put this where it doesn't belong."

Cole added: "Don't even think about it," when he held up a toy soldier tree decoration, as well as a gonk ornament.

"So yeah, I hope that gives you an insight of where not to put things where they don't belong, so you don't end up in A&E this Christmas," he told his viewers.

Cole finished the video by saying: "And no-one believes the 'I fell on it' story, okay?", confirming that the age-old excuse people have used for why they need a foreign body removed from an orifice where it doesn't belong is not fooling anyone.

His followers flooded his comments, writing: "I thoughts you meant for fire hazard haha. till I saw shapes of the stuff," and: "Was not expecting this video to go where it did."

One joked: "As an nhs worker I can confirm these are quite tame," while another was horrified, adding: "Na, tell me this doesn’t happen."

Someone quipped: "Oh well what are we meant to do for fun?", while another follower added: "The worst thing is you know somebody is going too…"

Most people were loving the video, adding: "the stories you must have," and: "This made my day and it's only 10am."

One follower even joked: ""Hilarious video! I will forever more hear your voice when I’m contemplating putting things where they do not belong."

Well, at least he got the point across, I guess!
