A man has divided the internet after allegedly showing "blatant disrespect" to a female gym-goer with one move.

Now, gym-fluencing has seen a massive boom over the past few years as more and more people are hitting the gym in order to keep themselves fit and healthy.

And for a lot of beginners - and even avid gym goers - it's comforting to have "one-on-one" sessions with people who post their own workout regimes online.

As helpful as it can be, it hasn't come without its troubles.

From awkward interactions with fitness fanatics to heated arguments in front of cameras, we've seen a whole host of problems come about due to this sudden rise in influencers at the gym.

The latest viral video has got people talking online for the sheer "disrespect" shown to a woman who was trying to capture her work out, by a man who seemingly did not care.

Charlie, a British fitness instructor, was filming a weightlifting tutorial when a man came up behind her and decided to drop a heavy dumbbell right in her way - and yes, he knew she was there.

The video shows him moving backwards while checking his distance to the influencer before dropping the weight directly behind her footline.

Even when Charlie tried to call the man as he walked away, he simply ignored her and left.

"What the f*** just happened there? Why did he put his weight behind me?" she asked.

She then tries to proceed with her workout regime, but quickly realizes that the dumbbell would cause an obstruction, so with two hands, she tries her best to lift it and throw it to the side.

Then, out of nowhere, the man comes back to glare at Charlie as she is continuing her workout, seemingly upset that his little plan to make it more difficult for her did not work.

Have a look at the video below:

Many wondered what his deal was - was he trying to get her to move from the spot despite her being there first? Was he just a prankster that wanted some attention from her? Either way, social media users were not happy upon seeing the clip.

"Ugh this makes me so mad. The blatant disrespect he had for [you]. So glad [you] pushed his [equipment] aside," one commenter weighed in.

"Intentional or not. this is the kind of environment Joey Swoll’s videos have created for women. I have not seen Men who film in the gyms deal w/ this sort of harassment and attitudes," wrote one user, referencing a male TikTok creator who has dedicated an entire account to "exposing" bad gym conduct primarily by women.

Thankfully those comments were being shut down by other users who hit back with: All the 'Joey swoll reacted to this yet?' Like I need men to start having big boy thoughts of their own creation in 2024."

Ain't that the truth.

"The way he just casually set the weight right at your feet like he was leaving a little gift or something," another added while a third stated: "The fact that sorry is what came out first and you aren’t even at fault for ANYTHING."

And this person also commented that this makes her "so mad" as it was "[blatantly] disrespectful"  before adding: "So glad you pushed his equipment to the side."

In the caption, Charlie re-emphasized her stance writing: "Disclaimer: the gym is absolutely everyones space, I never mind people walking in and out of videos - I had been using the bar in this rack and he had seen me training there so he absolutely knew what he was doing.

"Take this as your reminder to be kind to others and take up the space you deserve," she added.

While women resonated with Charlie's message, stating that intimidation tactics such as this one can make a lot of them feel "unsafe" in a stereotypically "masculine" space, a lot of men in the comments just did not get it.

However, that did not stop other women from recalling their experiences.

"Omg this just gave me PTSD from when I was using the leg press machine, mind you I was on my 2nd set already, this guy comes over and say: 'Hey I was using this' and proceeds to load more weight, then I said it was vacant when I got here and he says 'I just went to the bathroom.'"

Another user also added: "I had a guy take my weights, look me in the eye when I said I’m using them, and he still took them."

"...There was this guy literally walk into me doing barbell curls and look offended when he was hit. Weird people," a third commented.

One women stated that she converted her garage due to witnessing incidents like the one Charlie was faced with.
